A Tiny, Tiny Sacred Heart Project
And Get a Clue, Mom!
Happy Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! I’ve got a wee little project for you below (or as my 2 year old toddler would say, “tiny, tiny!”). It’s a little something fun to do with your family when you need a summertime activity. I missed writing this newsletter a couple of weeks ago, so today’s is stuffed with goodness.
Hude’s Clues
It’s always lovely when the grandparents visit. I have such wonderful parents and in-laws! The latter are visiting right now, so that means our son is getting to play plenty of games, which he absolutely relishes.
The other afternoon, as I was procuring something from the game closet for him, (the games are rather high up) I asked him what he wanted to play. I ran down the list… Parcheesi, Outfoxed, Uno… as I was pointing at boxes, he told me he did not want to play Cluger. Cluger, I asked? Being 6, he has been learning to read, and has been getting better at it over the past year… but it took me a few seconds to understand what he was telling me:
Yeah. Not Cluger!
Processing it All
By now, all of our Ave Lamb Books Founders Circle members’ books and items have been sent out… I think most people have been receiving them! That was a whirlwind week… we had 50 boxes of books (20 per box) delivered on the 12th. Due to a very minor medical procedure the day prior, I was not allowed to lift more than 10 lbs. for 3 days, per doctor’s orders. So poor hubbs, Randy, got quite the workout… twice! He first moved them from the porch, into the house. Then next, down to our (very dry*) basement, where we now have a storage and shipping room.
Over the next few days, usually when the kids were down, we examined every book for quality control (less than 7% were deemed subpar… I suppose that’s good?). The prayer cards needed reprinting, so that caused a slight delay, to get local ones printed. We finally finished packing about everything at midnight on the following Wednesday… and we had a business call the next morning at 5:30! So mea culpa if something was amiss in your order- my brain has been a bit mushy at times, and I was in charge of the “goodie bags.” Please let me know if I missed anything! We really wanted to get our items out mid-June as promised, and I hope we delivered.
Missed the Founder’s Circle? You can pre-order a book; release day is July 8th! That gives us some breathing room to process orders and pre-pack books. :) I found out that breathing is important! And we have a Small Over Prime Special right now… save 10% off of any size order through Friday June 26th with the code: SOP10
*Two dehumidifiers running down there, baby!
Drawing Inspiration
I got to sit and draw yesterday at my peak operating hours (9-11 am), as the visiting grandparents took my kids to a very fun Costco trip (it was a good sample day!). I started a concept design for a planned future project. This is a Benedictine Abbot- I started with The Oil & the Asking style (1940’s -ish), but wanted to try something a little more 1950’s, and this is what I ended up with! I was inspired by a vintage Monopoly box. Which do you like better? Feel free to email me! adalee (at) brightlyhude.com, or respond to this email.
Sacred Heart & Immaculate Heart Sticker Set
If you haven’t already seen, I paired these sticker designs together for my Brightly Hude Sticker Mule Shop! Order your set today (always free shipping) and save more with multiple sets. They look dazzling anywhere! Speaking of saving, here’s $10 to spend at Sticker Mule, courtesy of their referral program. I do get a commission when you use it, so it’s a win-win!
Tiny, Tiny Sacred Heart
Everything is “tiny, tiny!” with my daughter now! She wants tiny, tiny toast. Look- tiny, tiny leaves. “Tiny, tiny comb, Mama!” (It really wasn’t). I was inspired to create a tiny, tiny, Sacred Heart Stamp, made from a plastic eraser. It is really a conceptual project- you could do any design! But I created a template if you would like to use it. I came up with the idea too late to buy a brand new stamp or stamp pad… I used what I had on hand! And the only eraser I could find was an old one with a bite out of it, courtesy of my daughter, when she was one. Ah well!
You will need: The Printable below, A Plastic Eraser, a Glove (leather is good), a Lamp, a Ballpoint pen, a Sharpie Pen, and an X-Acto or similar knife (or if you have a Speedball carving set [which works excellent for pumpkin carving]), use that!).
These images should be pretty straightforward. The idea is to transfer (or just draw) the design on to the eraser, and carve the white part down lower. If using a knife, I suggest trying to cut it using a slight angle to get a V shape, for easy removal. And of course, email me if you have any questions! The printable can be found in the Downloads Section on my Brightly Hude website (scroll down).
Okay! It’s breakfast time! Yay for kids sleeping in late today so I could finish typing this. May God bless you and yours!
Pax Christi,
Adalee
