What Did I Forget??
The BIG Ave Lamb Books Announcement!
Guys- my brain has been *bouncing* all week! All of the stray thoughts about what I needed to do to prepare for this day (website, newsletter, email this person, that person, we need to book some interviews for ourselves, storefront, copy, press release…). I should say I’m exhausted at this point, but actually, I’m on fire (in a good way!). It has been a little hard to turn off the hamster wheel at times, but I praise God, I have remained fairly peaceful. I know that He is in charge of this project and I’m grateful to place it squarely in His hands (through a bit of intercession!). Falling asleep a couple of nights ago, I was even blissful. My husband and I had just prayed Psalm 4 in Compline- “In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest: For thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope.” ( Psalms 4:9-10) As I curled up next to him before we slumbered, I was so grateful to God to be on this journey together.
Still, I know myself well and I pray that I did not forget anything important!! That would be very much like me (If you see any broken links or other weird stuff… email me, please!).
Without further ado…
Ave Lamb Book Announcement
Lest I forget, Happy feast of Saint Joseph the Worker and Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary!
Today is the day. Launch Day! Little did I think some 10 years ago when I was dreaming up my first Catholic children’s book, that I, along with my wonderfully talented and handsome husband, Randy, would be starting a publishing company now. But here we are, and we cannot thank you enough for joining us as we begin this journey.
It is such a blessing to be able to present our first book together,
The Oil and the Asking:
Synopsis:
A young man with grand plans for his life has an abrupt reversal when he makes a fateful decision one day. After a chance encounter with blessed Leo Dupont, he discovers that his popular notions of what life is all about might be flawed. This fictional tale about a true devotion is told in rhyme with delightful illustrations to entertain young and old alike. It makes a great family read-aloud!
Curious to see a more? We made a little video about it!
The Oil and the Asking was created to be more like a vintage picture book, as that’s what we enjoy reading to our family. It’s a little longer than a modern children’s book, so we broke it into 4 parts for easy stopping points. We were aiming for something whimsical, and while the book takes a few serious turns, there are small delights to be found on most of the pages.
In order to make our new project work, we need to take more than just pre-orders. It is not just one book we are launching, but a whole company… we have so many ideas to share! There are more things currently in the works.
This is where you come in. We are going to host two funding campaigns. A small one this month, and a larger crowd funder in August. Throughout May we are offering the opportunity to join the Ave Lamb Books Founder’s Circle. This will help us to afford us the opportunity to have The Oil and the Asking printed. The Founder’s Circle is not a donation; there are plenty of fun member benefits and pre-order opportunities!
Before I get too much further, As I said above… this project is not in our hands anymore. It is ultimately in God’s, through the intercession of Our Lady and the patronage of St. Joseph. But it also is in yours! It needs your help to succeed. We need your help to share this campaign and get the word out. Even if our first book isn’t quite what you are looking for, please share it with someone whom you think would like it!
Now about the Ave Lamb Founder’s Circle:
